Ask your hotel whether you can arrive before check-in, store luggage and use restaurants, the pool or the beach before your room is ready. These are separate permissions: an all-inclusive booking does not automatically guarantee early access or a free wristband. Get the hours, inclusions and any charges confirmed by the property. Book the arrival transfer using your flight number and scheduled landing time, not the hotel check-in time. We track the flight and meet you after arrivals formalities. Confirm with the hotel where you can wait if the room is not ready, and tell dispatch if you have arranged a different first destination.

The gap almost everyone has

Most transatlantic flights land at PUJ between 13:00 and 17:00, which fits check-in perfectly. The ones that do not are the morning arrivals from North America and the charter flights that touch down at 09:00 or 10:00 — and VIP check-in at almost every Punta Cana resort is 15:00. That leaves four to six hours with your bags and your travel clothes.

The mirror image happens on the way home. Checkout is 11:00 or 12:00 at most properties, and a huge share of European flights leave PUJ between 17:00 and 22:00. You are out of the room at midday with eight hours to fill.

Early check-in and late checkout depend on the hotel’s availability and booking terms. They may cost extra, and the available times vary. Request them directly from the hotel and obtain confirmation; a transfer booking cannot guarantee a room or extended use of hotel facilities.

What the resort actually does before check-in

Ask your hotel whether you can arrive before check-in, store luggage and use restaurants, the pool or the beach before your room is ready. These are separate permissions: an all-inclusive booking does not automatically guarantee early access or a free wristband. Get the hours, inclusions and any charges confirmed by the property.

Ask reception whether luggage storage is available, its opening hours and whether it costs extra. Request a claim tag or receipt. Keep passports, medication, money and valuables with you, and pack clothes and essentials separately so you can reach them while waiting.

If the hotel permits access while you wait, ask which changing rooms, showers and towels you may use. Check opening hours and any fees before planning a swim. Leave enough time to change and retrieve luggage before your driver arrives.

So when do you book the transfer?

Book the arrival transfer using your flight number and scheduled landing time, not the hotel check-in time. We track the flight and meet you after arrivals formalities. Confirm with the hotel where you can wait if the room is not ready, and tell dispatch if you have arranged a different first destination.

The transfer time depends on your hotel and traffic. Use the zone table and landing-to-driver guide to plan the journey, allowing separately for immigration, baggage and customs. A morning landing does not guarantee arrival at the hotel by a particular hour.

For the return transfer, send the flight number and departure time. Dispatch confirms a pickup that allows for your zone’s drive, traffic and airport check-in; the departure buffers guide explains the planning. Hotel checkout is a separate deadline. Arrange how to spend any gap with the hotel before departure day.

After checkout: the day-use problem

Before your departure day, ask the hotel what remains available after checkout: luggage storage, meals, pool access, towels and showers. Access may end at checkout or require a day pass or another fee. If you cannot stay, arrange an alternative with confirmed luggage storage. Schedule your airport pickup around the flight and the recommended departure buffer.

Filling the gap with the driver instead

Some people would rather not spend six hours at the resort they have just left. The alternative is to keep the car: the same driver, by the hour, doing something useful before dropping you at PUJ.

The three that come up constantly: a supermarket run for rum, coffee and vanilla on the way to the airport, which the supermarket stop guide explains and which is easily the cheapest souvenir shopping in the country; a couple of hours in Altos de Chavón or Santo Domingo's colonial quarter if the flight is very late; or a beach club afternoon on a different beach with the bags in the boot.

This is quoted as a private hourly car, not as a transfer, because the vehicle is standing with you. Send the checkout time, the flight time and what you want to do, and the desk gives one figure in writing before you commit. The day trips with a private driver guide sets out how the hourly arrangement works.

A short stop on the way to the airport — 20 to 30 minutes at a supermarket, a pharmacy or a viewpoint — is not charged as an hourly hire. Tell the driver in the car or the desk when you book, and add the stop to the buffer.

Morning arrivals: the useful version of the gap

Ask your hotel whether you can arrive before check-in, store luggage and use restaurants, the pool or the beach before your room is ready. These are separate permissions: an all-inclusive booking does not automatically guarantee early access or a free wristband. Get the hours, inclusions and any charges confirmed by the property. If the hotel permits access while you wait, ask which changing rooms, showers and towels you may use. Check opening hours and any fees before planning a swim. Leave enough time to change and retrieve luggage before your driver arrives.

It is also the ideal window for the supermarket stop, before you reach the hotel rather than after. Water, beer, snacks and sunscreen for the week cost a fraction of resort prices, and you are not giving up beach time to do it.

With a baby or small children, the early arrival is genuinely harder — no room, no cot, no nap. The travelling with a baby guide covers changing facilities, feeds on the drive, and why a supermarket stop on arrival day matters more for families than anyone else.

Storing bags away from the hotel

Do not base the day on airport lockers or an unconfirmed luggage-storage service. Check directly with the airport or provider whether storage is available for your date, its location, opening hours, price and accepted bag sizes. If it is unavailable, arrange confirmed storage with your hotel or another provider before planning activities.

Ask reception whether luggage storage is available, its opening hours and whether it costs extra. Request a claim tag or receipt. Keep passports, medication, money and valuables with you, and pack clothes and essentials separately so you can reach them while waiting.

For a move between hotels, ask the first property how long it can keep your bags and the second when it can receive them. Agree both handovers before booking the transfer time. Send dispatch the exact property names, passenger count and luggage details for a written hotel-to-hotel quote.

What it costs

Nothing extra. An early arrival transfer is the VIP fixed zone rate, one to six passengers, taxes and tolls included: Cap Cana and Punta Cana Village $69 VIP, Bávaro $79, Uvero Alto $119, Bayahíbe $179, La Romana $199. Seven to fourteen passengers move to a van at $40 more on VIP, $40 on VIP.

There is no early-morning surcharge and no night surcharge. A 06:00 arrival and a 23:00 departure cost the same as a midday run. The prices page carries the full table.

Waiting time is included and tracked against your flight number, so a delayed early flight does not cost you anything either. Hourly hire for the gap is quoted separately and always in writing before the day.

Booking it

Message WhatsApp +1 849 377 5889 with the arrival flight number and landing time, the hotel, the number of passengers and cases, and — if you want it — the supermarket stop. For the way home, send the flight time rather than the checkout time and let the desk set the pickup.

You get the pickup time, the vehicle, the driver's name and the total in one message. No deposit; you pay the driver in cash or by card at the end of the ride.

If your plans for the gap change on the day, message the desk. Moving a departure pickup by an hour or two is routine and free.

Questions we get on this

Can I go to my hotel before check-in time?
Ask your hotel whether you can arrive before check-in, store luggage and use restaurants, the pool or the beach before your room is ready. These are separate permissions: an all-inclusive booking does not automatically guarantee early access or a free wristband. Get the hours, inclusions and any charges confirmed by the property.
Should I book the transfer for my landing time or for check-in time?
Book the arrival transfer using your flight number and scheduled landing time, not the hotel check-in time. We track the flight and meet you after arrivals formalities. Confirm with the hotel where you can wait if the room is not ready, and tell dispatch if you have arranged a different first destination.
What do I do between checkout at 11:00 and a 21:00 flight?
Before your departure day, ask the hotel what remains available after checkout: luggage storage, meals, pool access, towels and showers. Access may end at checkout or require a day pass or another fee. If you cannot stay, arrange an alternative with confirmed luggage storage. Schedule your airport pickup around the flight and the recommended departure buffer.
Can the driver take us somewhere before the airport?
Yes. A 20 to 30 minute supermarket or pharmacy stop is free — just add it to the buffer. For a longer plan, such as a beach club or Santo Domingo's colonial quarter, the desk quotes the same driver as an hourly private car in writing.
Is there luggage storage at Punta Cana airport?
Do not base the day on airport lockers or an unconfirmed luggage-storage service. Check directly with the airport or provider whether storage is available for your date, its location, opening hours, price and accepted bag sizes. If it is unavailable, arrange confirmed storage with your hotel or another provider before planning activities.
Does an early or late transfer cost more?
No. Prices are fixed per vehicle by zone with no early-morning, night or holiday surcharge: Bávaro $79 VIP, Cap Cana $69 and $69, Uvero Alto $119 and $119.
